DESCRIPTION:Join the SurgeForward Coalition for a morning of community\, nature\, and action at East End Lagoon near East Beach in Galveston. Meet coalition partners working toward a more resilient coast\, take part in hands-on stewardship activities\, and explore the wetlands while learning about their ecology\, ecosystem services\, and role in protecting coastal communities. You’ll also discover how nature-based solutions can advance coastal resilience and policy priorities\, with opportunities to connect with upcoming events\, volunteer efforts\, and other coalition resources. \nPresented in partnership with the Turtle Island Restoration Network\, the Coalition for Environment\, Equity\, and Resilience (CEER)\, and Bayou City Waterkeeper. \nFree to attend\, register today! \nEvent details\n\nDate and time: Saturday\, October 24\, 2026 | 9 a.m.–12 p.m.\nLocation: East End Lagoon Nature Preserve | Boddeker Road\, Galveston\, TX 77550\nAdmission: Free\nRecommended for: All ages\nWhat to bring: Water\, insect repellent\, sunscreen\, closed-toed walking shoes\, and weather-appropriate clothing\nRequired waiver: Please complete the photo and liability waiver before the event.\n\nAccessibility and trail information\nThe preserve’s half-mile trail consists mostly of compacted soil with occasional small rocks. Shade is limited\, though several benches are located along the trail in grassy areas. The parking lot has one accessible parking space and one accessible portable toilet. Please note that windblown sand may affect the accessible parking space. \nThe marine debris survey will take place across Boddeker Road from the preserve\, on the beach. \nDriving directions\nFrom Galveston\, travel east on Seawall Boulevard until you reach Boddeker Road. Turn right and continue for approximately half a mile. Park in the third pull-off area\, where you will see the ADA East End Lagoon Trail sign at the trailhead on the right. \nIf you have trouble locating the correct pull-off area\, view it on the map.
