DESCRIPTION:Two groups of local dancers are participating in this year’s National Water Dance: \nIn Houston\, join the TerraForm(ed) Collective on April 18th at 3 pm for Nature Stories\, a performance in conjunction with National Water Dance. This national movement draws attention to the fragility of our waters and move with one voice for responsible stewardship of our Earth. The dance will guide the public through Midtown Park and the community will be invited to add their own “Nature Stories” to the chalkboard in response to the dance they are witnessing. April 18th at 3 pm in Midtown Park | Free and open to the public \nIn Galveston\, join the Wild She Dances contemporary dance company on April 18th at 3pm. DESCRIPTION:5 years down. 10 years to go. Is Houston on track?\nFive years ago\, a federal Consent Decree was signed to force a fix for Houston’s crumbling sewer system. This 15-year mandate is the roadmap to ending raw sewage overflows in our streets\, parks\, and homes- especially in neighborhoods that have been historically neglected. \nIs the City meeting its milestones? Is the progress reaching the communities hit hardest by infrastructure neglect? On April 28\, BCWK is headed to Houston City Hall to demand transparency and ensure that every neighborhood is prioritized in the decade ahead. \nDespite billions in planned investments\, thousands of Houstonians still live with the stench and health risks of raw sewage. We need to know: \n\nIs the City complying with the federal mandate?\nIs the infrastructure work being distributed equitably across all neighborhoods?\nWhat has actually been accomplished in these first five years?\n\nWe can’t afford to wait until 2036 to find out if this 15-year plan is working. We are holding the City accountable at this critical 5-year checkpoint. \n  \nStay Tuned: We are finalizing the details for this day of action.
