Bayou City Waterkeeper Out of Office: Indigenous People’s Day

Our office is closed on Monday 10/14 in honor of Indigenous People’s Day, where we recognize the Indigenous communities that have lived & still live on Turtle Island for thousands of years.     • Xochipilli Collective presents Indigenous Peoples Day: A Celebration of All Nations, an event dedicated to honoring the rich histories, cultures, and enduring presence of Indigenous peoples. Saying proudly, “we have always existed, we have always been here, we were not discovered.” This celebration invites people of all backgrounds to recognize the sovereignty and resilience of Indigenous nations, featuring cultural performances, vendors, foods, and music. It is a day to reflect on the contributions of Indigenous peoples and to acknowledge their rightful place in the world’s history and future.
