Green Infrastructure Design Lab

Bayou City Waterkeeper is launching a Green Infrastructure Design Lab in Kashmere Gardens to strengthen community-led flooding solutions focused on nature and green infrastructure.  The Design Lab will educate community members on green infrastructure through a range of topics, including open ditches, bioswales, rain gardens, bayous, wetlands, and various fields such as law, policy, science, and planning.

Through a six-week cohort, starting in April 6, 2026, of 10–15 participants, community members and technical experts will learn together through modules, discussions, field trips, and hands-on demonstration projects, to design community-driven solutions around green infrastructure and flooding. Selected applicants will receive a $1,500 stipend upon completion of the cohort.

All participants are required to attend an orientation prior to the design lab to go over community agreements, and answer any additional questions or clarifications needed.

Applications are closed for our first cohort. If you are interested in learning more about this project, please reach out to info@bayoucitywaterkeeper.org
