Join Bayou City Waterkeeper and Stanford University’s Doerr School of Sustainability for a virtual workshop exploring how wetland restoration can reduce flooding and strengthen community resilience in the Houston region.
This session will share new research and modeling results from our ongoing collaboration, led by Dr. Elliott White Jr. and Dr. Diana Moanga. Using the InVEST Urban Flood Risk Mitigation Model, the team evaluated how restoring wetlands in Northeast Houston and Baytown can improve stormwater retention and reduce flood risk, highlighting the critical role of wetlands in building climate resilience and addressing inequities in flood exposure.
